Check22 is designed to fundamentally alter the merchant/consumer relationship as it exists today, by moving purchase and other financial transactions from a “pull” model, wherein a consumer gives a merchant detailed information allowing the merchant to draw money from a consumer’s accounts, to a “push” model, where the consumer provides no such information to the merchant, but instead actively sends their payments directly to the merchant in the form of a Check22 on demand substitute check.

What is Check22

In 2003, the U.S. Congress enacted a federal law called "Check 21" that allows the recipient of a paper check to create a digital version of the original check. This digital electronic format is called a "substitute check". Check22 is the next step. We've changed the process from a "Debit" (grab) transaction to a "Push" transaction where the payer decides when and how much they wish to pay.

Check22 Merchant Services include the following five imporatnt features:
  1. Authorization - Check22 payments are not issued unless they are either originated or authorized by the payer, if a payment is requested by the merchant, each payment must be authorized by the payer, either via email or text message response. The authorization process is fully automated and is available 24x7x365 to all Check22 merchants. Payment authorizations are completely within the control of the payer.
  2. Incorrect or Multiple Postings - The problem of incorrect or multiple posting of payments is solved by the real-time communication system that is included in the Check22 payment processing. The amounts and the number of Check22 payments are completely controlled by the Payer as each transaction is individually authorized by the payer. Check22 payments not authorized by the payer are automatically voided before issuance.
  3. Posting Against Insufficient Funds - IBV (Internet Balance Verification), fully integrated with Check22 payment processing, enables merchants to verify, that the payer has sufficient funds in their checking account, to cover the subject Check22. IBV eliminates processing Check22 payments that are NSF (none-sufficient funds). IBV covers 99% of all U.S. banks in minutes, and Check22 payments without sufficient funds are automatically voided before they are issued.
  4. ESign - To avoid disputes and to confirm the authorization of any Check22, used to make a payment, Genie Gateway has fully integrated Check22 with ESign. The ESign Act is a U.S. federal law passed in the year 2000, and it grants legal recognition to electronic signatures and records if all parties to a contract choose to use electronic documents and to sign them electronically. By clicking on the Check22 Authorized button, Payer automatically agrees to electronically add their signature to a legally binding contract authorizing a remotely created check (Check22) with their electronic "signature on file" made payable to the Payee.
  5. Genie MID with a built in customer service line - Genie Gateway invented the Genie MID which is both a traditional merchant ID number for transaction processing and also a U.S. domestic telephone number able to receive inbound calls anytime. Both domestic and international Check22 merchants can use their Genie MID as a 24 hour customer service line, to answer any questions relating to the goods and services they sell using Check22 payments.
